Child Safety Center

In the near future, community members will be able to buy reduced-price equipment to make their spaces safer.

The Child Safety Center currently provides the following free safety items and education to community members through a generous donation from Region 6:  

• Medication lock boxes
• Medication lock bags 
• Gun locks (cable and trigger) 
• Deterra medication disposal bags 

With the generosity of the Christ Child Society and in partnership with Children's Nebraska, the Child Safety Center is also able to provide free or low-cost car seats to community members who are Medicaid eligible and participate in the center's Car Seat Safety Checks. Families who already have a car seat may also sign up for the free Car Seat Safety Check and installation assistance. 

Soon, Omaha families will be able to visit the center to shop for other safety items at low cost, including:

• Bike helmets
• Outlet covers
• Door and cabinet latches
• Window stops and cord safety wraps for window blinds
• Furniture wall straps

• Child safety gates

   

The Child Safety Center is working with community partners to provide free safety training for parents and caregivers. Registration is available for the following: 

• Safe infant sleep training
• Safe travel training
• CALM Conversations training
• Stop the Bleed Certifications
• Learn to Respond 
• Car seat fitting and checks

We also offer Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED training at a discounted rate of $42.
