Success in medical school admission requires a robust combination of academic excellence, high MCAT scores and a versatile profile of clinical and research experiences.
Creighton’s pre-medicine advising helps you turn your interest in medicine into a clear, achievable plan. Through dedicated mentoring, students learn to navigate the complexities of the application process and secure the supportive letters of recommendation necessary for competitive candidacy.
Along the way, you’ll develop the skills, resilience and commitment needed not just for medical school—but for a life in service to others.
Our pre-medicine pathway students are supported from their first year as they explore the vocation of medicine and what it means to live the Jesuit value cura personalis, or care for the whole person. Through individualized advising, community engagement and exposure to healthcare environments, students explore their path while developing the intellectual curiosity, ethical grounding and commitment to service that define strong future physicians.
As they progress, students intentionally build the experiences and competencies expected by medical schools by engaging in clinical settings, service opportunities, leadership and mentorship. This integrated approach helps them connect academic learning with real-world impact, preparing them to navigate the application process with confidence and to enter medical education ready to serve patients and communities with skill and compassion.
In their first year, students take part in the online Pre-Health Information Community. Through the group, the Center for Advising Resources and Support will keep students informed of pre-health activities, events and resources. The goal of the Pre-Health Information Community is to assist students in exploring their pre-health options.
During their second year, students will participate in a 0-credit Pre-Health Seminar. Through required online modules and a small number of in-person sessions, the Center for Advising Resources and Support guides students through the process of gaining experience in the health career fields. Emphasis is placed on both academic and co-curricular expectations for professional health programs.
The Pre-Medical Education Seminar is for students who are within their application cycle for medical school. The seminar focuses on the needs of Creighton students as they prepare to submit their application to AMCAS.
As a pre-med student, you’ll work closely with advisors in the Center for Advising Resources and Support to build a strong, competitive application.
You’ll have access to:
With consistent support and hands-on experience, you’ll graduate prepared to apply with confidence.
The Pre-Medical Society is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment for all Creighton students pursuing careers in medicine. By connecting peers through medical symposiums and professional panels, the society bridges the gap between undergraduate studies and the healthcare field. Members are encouraged to pursue leadership roles and engage in vital research or volunteering opportunities to strengthen their professional profiles. This immersive community empowers future physicians to explore their vocation while building a competitive foundation for medical school success.
While many students search for specific pre-med majors, the pre-medicine track at Creighton is a professional pathway rather than a singular field of study. Students are encouraged to choose a major that reflects their personal interests and supports a parallel career plan, as admissions committees value intellectual engagement across all disciplines. Whether pursuing the sciences or the humanities, students can successfully master the essential background required for medical school. This flexibility allows for a unique academic profile while ensuring a rigorous foundation for the challenges of a medical curriculum.
For students looking for an added level of structure and support, the Creighton Pre-Professional Scholars Program (CPPSP) offers enhanced advising, defined benchmarks and, in select pathways, guarantees for Creighton’s professional programs. Admission is selective and based on academic readiness and commitment to a professional path. Each CPPSP track includes defined criteria for participation.
