Message from the Radiology-Diagnostic Program Director

Dear Prospective Resident,

I am writing to you today to express my excitement about the future of radiology and to invite you to consider Creighton University School of Medicine's Radiology Residency Program. Radiology is an extremely exciting and challenging medical subspecialty that brings primary and subspecialty care together utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to provide the highest level of medical care.

At Creighton, we believe that the best way to provide exceptional patient care is to create a team-based environment where radiologists, other physicians, nurses and technologists work together to provide the best possible care for our patients. Our radiology staff places a priority on resident and medical student education, and we believe that our residents are the future of radiology.

One question that frequently comes up from prospective residents is: What kind of residents do we have here at Creighton? The answer is simple: our residents are extremely intelligent, hardworking, self-starters with great communication skills. They impress me every single day, and I consider it a privilege to work with them.

The future of radiology may be cloudy with capitation/alternative payment models, changes in ACGME and challenges in research grant funding. However, I believe that the best response to these uncertainties is clear: establish a high-quality team and provide the best patient care, academics, and research you possibly can.

I believe that Creighton University School of Medicine's Radiology Residency Program is the perfect place for you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to be a successful radiologist. We offer a comprehensive training program that will prepare you for a career in any subspecialty of radiology. We also have a strong research program that will allow you to pursue your passion for research. I encourage you to learn more about our program by exploring our website or by contacting us directly. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and to help you determine if Creighton is the right fit for you.

Sincerely,

Dane Van Tassel, MD
