Surgery Curriculum

Program Overview

The CUSOM Phoenix General Surgery Program is currently approved for 52 residents. There are eight categorical resident positions at each PGY year, 1 through 5 and twelve PGY1 preliminary residents. Our residents rotate on multiple surgical specialties including Acute Care, Breast, Burn, Colorectal. Endocrine, General, MIS/robotic, Trauma, HPB/transplant, Head/Neck, Pediatric, Plastic & Reconstructive, Thoracic/transplant, Surgical Intensive Care, and Vascular. Our robust internal rotations are augmented by selected outside rotations at the Phoenix Children's Hospital, Phoenix Indian Medical Center, and HonorHealth. Some electives are available, including the Mayo Clinic HPB, Banner Cardiothoracic,  and Advanced lap/endoscopy at Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
