Hans Herzl-Betz, JD, MSLIS

Hans Herzl-Betz is the Reference and Instructional Services Librarian. In that capacity, he serves as a reference librarian, a legal research instructor, and the head of the Circulation Department. Professor Herzl-Betz teaches Foreign, Comparative, and International Legal Research and co-teaches Advanced Legal Research.

He has presented at the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries Conference on topics including the evolution of legal research, the relationship between legal research and The Art of War, and the use of generative AI-generated images and videos to increase student engagement with class material.

Professor Herzl-Betz graduated with a BA in East Asian Studies from Haverford College. He earned both a MA and an MPhil from Columbia University in Religion, focusing on Japanese Religion. Professor Herzl-Betz also completed a joint degree in law (JD) and library science (MSLIS) at Drexel University
