Robert I. Hlavac, DDS

Assistant Professor

Dr. Hlavac received an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and his dental degree (DDS) from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.  He went on to complete a General Practice Residency program at the University of Southern California / Los Angeles County Medical Center after which he was offered a faculty position.  Although interested in dental education, he declined the position, moved back to his native Bay Area, and from the ground up created a private practice in Concord, California.  He was an early adopter of CEREC, all-ceramic restorations, lasers, and digital radiography.  It was a technology-driven practice that put relationships and communication first.  While in private practice, he served on quality assurance committees with two insurance companies.  In 2022 he decided to pursue his interest in dental education and returned to Creighton as an adult clinic Team Leader. He monitors student pre-doctoral clinical requirements and mentors them chairside providing direct patient care.  Dr. Hlavac provides a senior elective in partial coverage all-ceramic restorations.
