Liam J. Kingsley, PhD

I am an Assistant Professor of History in the Global South at Creighton University. My research interests include postcolonial state formation, global health, apartheid, queerness, and the history of medicine in southern Africa. My book project, supported by a Fulbright-Hays fellowship in Windhoek, Namibia and Pretoria, South Africa, studies Namibia’s liberation movement through the lens of healthcare, centering the role of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the construction of the Namibian state. When outside the archive and classroom, I can be found performing music as Moon News or at home with my spouse, my cat Callan, and my dog Grandpa. I use they/them pronouns.
