Professor

Dr. Joseph D. Tariman is a Professor in the College of Nursing. He is an internationally renowned researcher, educator, and clinician whose significant contributions to the literature have a profound impact on the clinical care of older adults with myeloma. He earned a prestigious Fellowship into the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in 2016. He is a key opinion leader in myeloma and the editor of the only myeloma book for nurses (1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions), as well as the co-author of eight myeloma-related book chapters. His research focuses on shared decision-making processes and their associated patient-reported outcomes. He has developed several instruments, including the Acceptability Scale, Shared-Decision Making Competency for Nurses, and Values and Preferences Elicitation Questionnaire, which have been translated into French, Spanish, Chinese, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, and Estonian. He has received funding from the National Institute of Nursing Research, the Oncology Nursing Society, the University Research Council, and various non-profit organizations and foundations. He is a founding member of the International Myeloma Foundation’s Nurse Leadership Board.
