Fr. Hendrickson announces four new members of Board of Trustees

Creighton President the Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD, announced four new members of the Creighton University Board of Trustees, who were elected at a recent Board meeting. He said he was grateful “for their willingness to serve and for the diverse perspectives and expertise they bring to help fulfill our University’s mission.”

The new trustees are Steve Kaniewski, president and CEO of Valmont Industries, Inc.; Eric Keen, CEO and chairman of the board of HDR, Inc.; Linda Hunt, former president and CEO of Dignity Health’s Southwest Division; and Adam Bohan, SJ, RN, associate trustee.

Kaniewski is responsible for day-to-day operations for Valmont’s two primary business segments, agriculture and infrastructure. The company operates 85 manufacturing facilities in 22 countries and has more than 10,000 employees. Also a member of the board of directors and the executive board committee for the United Way of the Midlands and chairman emeritus for the AIM Institute, he is a native of Philadelphia and graduate of Santa Clara University.

Eric Keen

Keen leads HDR’s strategic growth as a global engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services company. A civil/structural engineer, he has spent 40-plus years developing and delivering some of our country’s most notable transportation infrastructure projects. Under his leadership, HDR grew its planning, program management, design-build, and management consulting services and expanded its global presence. He also led the creation of the HDR Foundation. A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Iowa.

Linda Hunt

Hunt, who received an honorary degree from Creighton in 2020, is currently a senior special project consultant for CommonSpirit Health. Instrumental in shaping the future of health care in Arizona, she has been a committed partner in Creighton’s health sciences campus in Phoenix. Named a “Humanitarian of the Year” by the National Conference for Community and Justice, she holds degrees from William Carey College and the University of Colorado and is a graduate of the Johnson & Johnson/Wharton Fellows Program in Management, University of Pennsylvania.   

Adam Bohan

Bohan

Bohan is a registered nurse and Jesuit scholastic, presently serving at Loyola University Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Creighton, a master’s degree in philosophy from Fordham University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Columbia University. His health sciences interests include biomedical ethics, beginning and end-of-life care, and neonatology. As a Creighton student, he studied abroad in Shanghai, China, and participated in medical missions in the Dominican Republic.

Fr. Hendrickson said he looks forward to working with the new trustees and “experiencing the myriad ways they will assist Creighton in advancing our goals, hopes, and vision for our students and the future of our University.” He also thanked outgoing trustee Darrell Lee, MD’81, and trustee associate the Rev. Trevor Rainwater, SJ, BA’10, for their dedicated service since 2018.
