Inspired by Creighton’s Ignatian value of cura personalis, or "care for the whole person," the Creighton Mentor Collective connects students one-on-one with alumni mentors to enhance the student experience. Each mentor offers the perspective of someone who has walked a similar path and can provide guidance throughout a student’s discernment process.
By asking questions and learning from their mentors’ experiences, students gain insight into the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. These mentoring relationships can have a meaningful impact on students’ confidence, decision-making and persistence toward graduation.
Each student and alumni mentor interested in the program completes a matching survey that gathers information about personal, academic and professional backgrounds. Matches are made based on shared experiences, interests or challenges.
Mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet at least once a month. Together, they determine how often to connect and which communication method works best, such as text, email, phone or video chat. Because the program is virtual, alumni from across the country can participate and continue living Creighton’s mission of forming men and women for and with others.

Conversations can focus on a variety of topics. Some students and mentors might focus on matching course work with career interest. Others might focus on finding a path to a major or balancing having fun and getting the job done. Common discussion points include:
The program runs through an academic year, wrapping up in May. While the official program concludes at the end in May, mentors and mentee are welcome to stay connected beyond the end of the school year.
