This is an intensive set of courses designed to prepare students for national certification and licensure as paramedics. Unlike a degree program, which includes broader academic coursework, this certificate-preparation program focuses solely on the essential knowledge and skills required for emergency medical services.
The program spans approximately 11 months and includes around 390 hours of classroom lectures, 120 hours of lab/simulation and 675 hours of practicum experience.
Yes, it is accredited by CAAHEP upon the recommendation of CoAEMSP and approved by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Note that other states may have different requirements.
Graduates are eligible for the NREMT paramedic exams and can work in ambulance services, fire departments, hospitals and other healthcare settings.
Some students do work while taking part in this program, but given the intensive nature of it, working full time while enrolled may be challenging.
On the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), our cutting-edge paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
