Minor in Dance

Minor in Dance

Dance is offered as a minor in Creighton University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts for students majoring in another discipline.

The Dance concentration requires a total of eighteen semester hours: 16 hours in Dance techniques courses numbered DAN 101 and above to reach a minimum technical level of DAN 341, and two credits in Dance performance.

Ten of the technique hours have to be taken in Classical Ballet.  The remaining six hours are electives and may be chosen from Modern Dance, Jazz, Tap, Theory of Teaching Practicum, Dance Production or Choreography.

Participation in performance is encouraged beyond the two required credits. (One credit in performance represents two semesters work in performance.)

Students have the opportunity to participate in the examination systems of the Royal Academy of Dancing.  Students are encouraged to audition for placement into upper division classes.
