Dean’s Fellows who want more depth can join the Menard Scholars track. The Menard Scholars are a competitively selected group of analytical leaders focused on the improvement of self and serving as “men and women for others.” You will be encouraged to think critically on issues facing the world and develop the skills to analyze real-world problems, effectively communicate your insights. The analytical mindset and depth cultivated in the program will equip you for future job placement or placement into competitive graduate and law programs.

Features of the Program

Menard Scholars receive hands-on guidance and mentoring from faculty and upperclassmen, exclusive Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Critical Issues classes tailored specifically for this track, and the opportunity to collaborate with a like-minded group of motivated students.

Menard Scholars can participate in an Analytical Case Study Competition in their freshman year with scholarship or funding awarded to winners. Throughout the program, they also participate in research groups, reading groups, colloquia, and other events.

Upon graduation, Menard Scholars will have developed the depth to be uniquely prepared to enter any workplace or graduate program.

Strengths of the Program

Menard Scholars spend a significant portion of their freshmen year as a cohort, developing lasting relationships while working their way through a rigorous, honors-equivalent curriculum. In the process, fellows develop impressive critical thinking skills in topics related to philosophy, politics and economics.
