Campus Engagement in Population Health NEW

Advancing Population Health Through Campus Collaboration

The Institute works to increase the Creighton community’s understanding of population health, break down silos by encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration and research and create opportunities for faculty, staff and students to participate in population health efforts on campus and in the community.

Our Primary Initiatives

President’s Fund in Population Health

The President’s Fund in Population Health was established to encourage and support faculty-led efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of communities at the population level. Administered by the IPH, faculty are supported in various initiatives that improve the health of targeted populations through needs assessments, implementation of interventions, and their evaluation and sustainability.

Envisioning Population Health Student Photo Contest

In 2025, IPH partnered with the Kingfisher Institute to host the Envisioning Population Health Student Photo Contest. The contest invited students from across Creighton’s schools and colleges to creatively explore factors that influence individual and community health and wellbeing, with submissions organized across three categories: mental health and wellbeing, planetary health and social determinants of health.

“The thoughtful and creative entries we received reflect our students’ growing understanding of population health and how they can positively influence the health and well-being of others—locally and globally,” said Scott Shipman, MD, MPH, IPH executive director and CyncHealth Endowed Professor of Population Health.

The Magis Clinic is a student-run clinic that provides free healthcare to unhoused and uninsured individuals in the Omaha community. It is the first free medical clinic in Omaha open on Saturdays. Services include basic acute primary care consultations and follow-up, physical exams, mental health care, laboratory services, and access to pharmaceuticals.
