Paramedicine Bachelor of Science (Online Degree Completion Pathway)

Creighton’s online Bachelor of Science in Paramedicine degree completion pathway is for practicing paramedics looking to advance their careers and reach professional goals.

The program is designed to work with your busy schedule. Course are delivered online and most are presented in eight-week terms, easily allowing you to complete two courses per semester. This program:

Paramedicine Bachelor of Science Online Degree Completion Details

Creighton University’s Bachelor of Science in Paramedicine program helps students develop their critical thinking and decision-making skills, while also providing instruction about direct patient care and EMS tools, techniques and current advancements. 

All the EMS courses we offer include curricula based on the current United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, National EMS Education Standards and Guidelines.

Rather than starting from scratch, the online degree completion pathway let's you build on your previous education and experience and earn a bachelor's degree. 

Information About Credits

A Creighton bachelor’s degree requires the completion of 128 semester credit hours. Forty-eight of these credit hours must be earned at Creighton University, including the final 32 hours, and a minimum of 15 credit hours must be earned in the major area of study.

Students who have pursued their paramedic education courses at another institution for college credit will receive block credit for a maximum of 49 credit hours for the core paramedic coursework. This block credit will be awarded upon completion of all required coursework towards the degree. Standard Creighton University policies on acceptance and transfer of academic credits, apart from the block credits, from other accredited institutions will be applied. For those who completed the paramedic program for a certificate of completion without college credit awarded, a course conversion fee will be assessed.

Applying to the Paramedicine Degree Completion Pathway

Eligibility

To be eligible for the online degree completion pathway, you must have:

  • Successfully completed a paramedic education program with grade(s) of C or higher and a minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Current National Registry of EMTs Paramedic Certification
  • Experience that includes a minimum of 3 years of clinical paramedic practice
  • Prior work success as a paramedic

How to Apply

Application for admission will be submitted to Creighton University, College of Professional Studies. You will need to submit:

  • Official transcripts from all prior institutions attended, including high school and post-secondary institutions
  • Copies of current NREMT paramedic certification and unencumbered state licenses/certifications
  • You resume
  • A personal statement that describes:
    • Professional experience to date in EMS
    • Motivation for pursuing a BS in Paramedicine degree and future goals
    • Your reason for selecting Creighton University
  • Three recommendations addressing academic and personal attributes (instructor, employer, professional colleague)

Yes. All degree-completion coursework is offered online in flexible formats designed for working EMS professionals. The degree-completion pathway does not require additional clinical or field hours on campus. 

How flexible is the online paramedic degree?

Courses are offered in eight-week sessions, allowing you to take one or two classes at a time while working full-time. You can customize your pace based on your schedule and career demands.
