Prior to gaining independent access to core resources, all users must go through a training process, and they also must review and sign a User Agreement which outlines core policies. To reserve time on an instrument, users must book a reservation in advance and provide payment details. A user’s access privileges can be revoked at any time if they fail to follow the terms in the User Agreement or if they fail to properly reserve equipment. Users are also expected to back up their data after each session. The core facility is not responsible for lost, deleted, or corrupted data files.
Training sessions are scheduled 2 or more weeks in advance.
New users should contact the core manager, expressing interest in training and providing details about their planned experiments (e.g. PI name, fluorophores, kind of data required, etc.). After identifying the proper instrument for the experiments, one of the core’s trainers will provide hands-on training with the new user. Initial training normally consists of two 2-hour sessions and is free of charge. Additional or advanced training can be provided as needed, but it will be charged at the Assisted Rate.
**Special daily rates are available for extended timelapse experiments on the Nikon Confocal and Molecular Devices ImageXpress. If you are interested in knowing more about timelapse experiments and their billing rates, please inquire with us.
Voucher applications are considered on a rolling basis, and they require the applicant to specify their reasons for financial support. If you are interested in learning about our voucher options or wish to receive a voucher application, please contact a member of the core staff.
Current users may ask for a copy of the User Agreement at any time from one of our staff. Users will also be informed by staff of changes or updates to the agreement.
