Internal Grant Opportunities

Health Science Strategic Investment Fund Faculty Development Grants are seed grants for faculty members developing new biomedical research projects. Grants are for $50,000 over a two-year project period.
 
Eligibility:

  • Tenured or tenure-track faculty members (health science and non-health science schools/colleges) or resident/research assistant professors conducting biomedical research are eligible for funding. Faculty who hold contributed service, special rank, or visiting designations are not eligible for this program.
  • Recipients of a Health Science Strategic Investment Fund Faculty Development grant in the past two years are not eligible to apply this cycle.
  • Recipients of a Health Science Strategic Investment Faculty Development grant may not be funded by another internal Creighton University grant mechanism at the time of award.
  • Investigators should not submit more than one grant proposal to be considered.
  • The two-year award is not allowed an extension or renewal.

  • Faculty salaries
  • Space
  • Travel to conferences or scientific meetings
  • Repairs
  • Renovations
  • Alcohol
  • Computer equipment
  • U.S. visa fees
  • Indirect costs

Internal Grant Program Application Limitations: Per the Policy on Concurrent Submission of Similar or Identical Applications, two (or more) similar, identical, or essentially identical applications cannot be under review at the same time, even if they are submitted to different internal funding opportunity announcements.

The Dr. George F. Haddix President's Faculty Research Fund supports and enhances the research and scholarly productivity of full-time faculty at Creighton University. Faculty are encouraged to involve students in their research programs and scholarly endeavors.

Special consideration will be given to new investigators to collect preliminary data to submit an external grant proposal. In addition, established faculty are encouraged to submit proposals for new initiatives/directions with the intent to build on their work and/or seek external funding. Finally, faculty focused on the scholarship of teaching & learning, as well as interdisciplinary team focused projects, are encouraged to apply.

Please note: Only one no-cost extension will be allowed for any Haddix grant.

LB692 Nebraska Tobacco Settlement Biomedical Research Development New Initiative Grant

LB692 New Initiative Grants are seed grants to develop new avenues of investigation in biomedical research. The goal of this funding mechanism is to enhance the ability of faculty to develop sufficient preliminary data for successful NIH grant applications. These grants are for $75,000 over a one-year project period. 

Eligibility

  • Omaha Campus tenured or tenure-track faculty members (health science and non-health science schools/colleges) or resident/research assistant professors conducting biomedical research are eligible for funding. Faculty who hold contributed service, special rank, or visiting designations are not eligible for this program.
  • Preference will be given to those faculty who have not previously been funded by this mechanism.
  • Recipients of a New Initiatives grant in the past two years are not eligible to apply this cycle.
  • Principal Investigators (PI) or co-investigators cannot be funded concurrently by other LB692 or LB595 support mechanisms.
  • Investigators should not submit more than one grant proposal to be considered.
  • The one-year award is not allowed an extension or renewal.

LB595 Cancer and Smoking Disease Research Program Development Grants are to assist faculty to develop new research projects in cancer and smoking-related diseases that would ultimately be competitive for extramural funding. Grants will be awarded for a maximum budget of $100,000 for a one-year budget period.

Eligibility:

  • Omaha Campus School of Medicine tenured or tenure-track faculty or resident/research assistant professors are eligible for funding. Faculty who hold contributed service, special rank, or visiting designations are not eligible for this program.
  • Preference will be given to those faculty who have not previously been funded by this mechanism.
  • Recipients of a LB595 Cancer and Smoking Disease Research Program Development Grant in the past two years are not eligible to apply this cycle.
  • Principal Investigators (PIs) or co-investigators cannot be funded concurrently by other LB692 or LB595 support mechanisms.
  • Investigators should not submit more than one grant proposal to be considered.
  • The one-year award is not allowed an extension or renewal.
