The Department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions in Creighton University’s College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning in August 2027. Rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. We seek an outstanding teacher-scholar who is committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate education, student-centered learning, and meaningful faculty mentorship.

The successful candidate will teach foundational and advanced undergraduate courses based on departmental needs. Possible teaching assignments include human anatomy and physiology, human pathophysiology, exercise physiology, exercise prescription, nutrition, fitness and wellness, and statistics and research design. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and advising students and providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.

The successful candidate will establish and sustain an active, independent research program that complements departmental strengths and provides meaningful opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in study design, data collection, analysis, presentation, and publication. We particularly encourage candidates whose scholarship addresses one or more of the following areas: exercise immunology, physiological stress responses, and immunoendocrine interactions; skeletal muscle adaptation, neuromuscular function, muscle fatigue, and resistance-training adaptations across the lifespan; translational research connecting basic physiological mechanisms with applications in aging, rehabilitation, or chronic disease management; and innovative quantitative or integrative approaches in exercise and human physiology, including advanced modeling, health informatics, or multiscale physiological analysis. Research programs using human participants, animal models, or both are welcomed, and candidates whose work bridges multiple levels of physiological organization are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in exercise science, physiology, or a closely related field is required by the beginning of the appointment
• Evidence of, or strong potential for, excellence in undergraduate teaching and educational innovation
• Potential to establish an active, independent, and externally visible research program involving undergraduate students
• Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Professor level must demonstrate a record of teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate to that rank
• Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision-making in support of students’ goals, success, wellness, and needs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others
