Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor - Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions

The department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions at Creighton University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor assistant or associate professor. We seek individuals committed to being outstanding teacher-scholars within a primarily undergraduate-serving college. The successful applicant will teach a 3-3 course load teaching foundational and advanced undergraduate courses in areas such as human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, and statistics and research design, while developing an active, independent research program involving undergraduate students. 

We particularly encourage candidates whose scholarship addresses one or more of the following areas: exercise immunology, physiological stress responses, and immunoendocrine interactions; skeletal muscle adaptation, neuromuscular function, muscle fatigue, and resistance training adaptations across the lifespan; translational research connecting basic physiological mechanisms with applications in aging, rehabilitation, or chronic disease management; and innovative quantitative or integrative approaches in exercise and human physiology, including advanced modeling, health informatics, or multi-scale physiological analysis. Research programs utilizing human subjects, animal models, or both are welcomed, and candidates whose work bridges multiple levels of physiological organization are especially encouraged to apply. 

The department maintains well-equipped laboratory facilities that support both human and molecular physiology research, including wet lab space for molecular and histological investigations, a cryostat, fluorescence microscope, bead-based multiplex immunoassay platform, metabolic carts, an environmental chamber, EMG systems, and ultrasound equipment. 

Other responsibilities include mentoring and advising students and providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Exercise Science (or closely related field) is required
  • Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations 
  • Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others
