Bridge to Creighton is a program for undergraduate students who would benefit from additional advanced-level English-language support. Unlike a traditional ESL program, Bridge to Creighton allows students to earn college credits while strengthening skills needed for success at a top-ranked university.
During the semester-long program, highly qualified instructors from the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) support students in developing critical reading strategies, academic vocabulary, advanced English grammar, presentation and oral communication skills, and effective note-taking.
Bridge to Creighton enables eligible students to earn up to six credits by completing the following courses:
After students complete the program and begin taking full-credit courses at Creighton, IELI instructors continue to serve as a resource, collaborating with students’ other Creighton professors to support academic success.
Bridge to Creighton is designed for students who have applied to Creighton University as undergraduates. Based on English proficiency scores, some students may be placed into the program. For these students, Bridge to Creighton represents the pathway to full undergraduate admission—unless they retake an English proficiency test and achieve a passing score before the deadline to change their initial admission decision.
If a student already has a minimum passing English proficiency score for full admission, they may still be eligible for the Bridge program.
