In determining whether Creighton is right for you, we consider all your qualifications for college admissions, from what you’ve accomplished to who you are. Below, we have outlined the additional materials international students will need to submit to be considered for admission to Creighton. For general requirements, visit:

Students should be honest and provide official documentation as a part of their application process. If any documents are found to be fraudulent, we reserve the right to cancel the application or rescind the offer of admission.

English Language Proficiency

International students will need to submit proof of English literacy via one of the following methods.

Submit English-language exam scores. See below for information on unconditional, Bridge and provisional scores.
Entering freshmen may substitute completion of at least two years of high school at an accredited institution in the United States for an English proficiency exam.
Transfer students may substitute completion of one year of college-level coursework at an accredited institution in the United States for an English proficiency exam.
The proficiency is satisfied by attending high school in one of the following programs or countries: American/English International Schools, IB program, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Belgium, Bermuda, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Cayman Islands, Christmas Island, Cook Islands, Dominica, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Jersey, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Malta, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Niue, Norfolk Island, Northern Mariana Islands, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Pitcairn Islands, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Sint Maarten, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Completion of IELI, or other accredited English language program, may be used for eligibility to our Bridge program. In some instances, applicants may be eligible for unconditional admission with additional documentation.
Academic tests may be substituted for the English language requirement, including the following: SAT (minimum 560) or ACT (minimum 22).

Duolingo Score: 110 or above

IELTS Score: Overall 6.5 (with one or more sections below 6.0) or overall 6.0
PTE Academic Score: 50-57
Duolingo Score: 95-105

Admission Type: Provisional

TOEFL Score: 67 or below
IELTS Score: Overall 5.5 or below
PTE Academic Score: 49 or below
Duolingo Score: 90 or below

Apply to Creighton

For Undergraduates: High School Transcripts

Please submit either an official or unofficial high school transcript.

Make sure it includes:

The scale on which you were graded
An English translation, if in another language
If you submit an unofficial copy, submit an official copy by June 15. An official copy is considered official if it meets one of these criteria:
- Is sent directly from your high school or university
- Is sent directly by your guidance counsellor
- Is sent in a sealed and stamped envelope, with official stamps on each page
- Is sent directly from a credential evaluator. Credit evaluations must be completed by a NACES-approved service. SpanTran is our recommended international transcript evaluation service. They have created a custom application for Creighton University that will ensure you select the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. Applying College Credit from High School

Financial Aid

Does Creighton offer scholarships to international students?
- Yes, Creighton offers merit scholarships to students admitted to the University. Scholarships range in award and are determined by application.
Does Creighton offer need based aid to international students?
- No, Creighton does not offer need based financial aid to international students. While we offer as much as we can in merit aid, full tuition and cost of attendance scholarships are not available. Students should not apply unless they can realistically pay the costs associated with attending Creighton. More information can be found here
Can I fill out the FAFSA?
- It depends on your status. If you are a US Citizen, a permanent resident/green-card holder, have been granted asylum or refugee status, or fit into one of these categories

What activities and services are available to international students at Creighton?
- There are numerous services ISSS is able to offer international students, including International student orientation, international student focused community activities, social activities, and Visa/I-20 advising.

Working on Campus

Can international students become employed while at Creighton?
- There are limited work opportunities on campus for students, including international students. Students may work on campus if work is available and only typically after the first semester of classes. Students must apply, interview, and work the hours hired for, if they work on campus. Work is not guaranteed to any student and students should not come to Creighton expecting to be hired for a part-time job. Off campus work is typically not authorized for international students, due to US immigration policies.

Information for Admitted International Students

Once you have been admitted to Creighton, make sure to complete the following steps so we can send you the I-20 and immigration paperwork. These documents will allow you to prepare and set a date for your visa interview.

Step 1:

Complete your financial paperwork.

Certificate of Available Finances
One of the following:
- Current year bank statement: Must show bank name and address, currency and bank account information (name of account holder, account number)
- Signed and notarized letter from the bank with bank details (name and title of person issuing the letter), bank account information (name of account holder, account number) and amount available in the account in the home currency and in US dollars
- Sponsorship/scholarship letter with contact information of company/organization

Upload a scanned copy of your passport.

Deposit: Make sure you reserve your spot at Creighton today!

Once we have reviewed all the items above, we will process and mail your I-20 to your current address. At that time, if you need to, please use the SEVIS number located on your I-20 to pay your SEVIS fee and book a slot for your visa interview.
