The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic provides transactional legal services to Omaha-area entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations while giving Creighton law students hands-on experience in business law. Through real client representation, students support entity formation, contracts and compliance matters that help organizations grow responsibly. 

Legal Services We Provide

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic provides legal counsel to Omaha-area entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations in connection with:

  • Entity selection and formation
  • Contract drafting, review and negotiation
  • Intellectual property protection  
  • Regulatory and compliance matters, including certain employment and state and local issues
  • Business start-up functions

Matters We Do Not Handle

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic does not handle:

  • Actual, threatened or potential litigation
  • Immigration law matters
  • Patent searches or patent applications
  • Tax advice

We may be able to provide referrals to other available resources for these matters. 

Our Mission

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic educates, trains and inspires law students to understand the needs of, and advocate for, entrepreneurs, innovators and start-up businesses while expanding access to transactional legal services in the Omaha community. 

For Students

Students in the clinic gain hands-on experience advising real clients in transactional business law matters. Working under faculty supervision, students develop practical skills in:

  • Client counseling
  • Contract drafting and negotiation
  • Entity formation
  • Legal compliance and regulatory analysis
  • Intellectual property strategy (non-patent) 

For Clients

The clinic serves clients who are a strong match for our student-led program and meet our selection criteria. While we strive to assist as many individuals and organizations as possible, we cannot guarantee representation for all applicants.
