Frequently Asked Questions

When does registration typically open?

  • Summer: Early April
  • Winter: Late October

Are classes online or in person?

  • Summer: Courses may be offered online or on campus.
  • Winter: All Winter Session courses are fully online.

Do I need to meet with my advisor?

Current students are encouraged to meet with an advisor about summer or winter courses, but it is not required.

Who is eligible to take a summer or winter course?

All current students may enroll. Visiting students are also eligible. First-year students must request permission from their Dean’s Office to take winter courses by submitting the Override for Winter Term form.

How many courses should I take?

  • Summer: Several session lengths are offered. Shorter sessions are more intensive, so you should meet with your advisor before enrolling in multiple courses.
  • Winter: Due to the accelerated format, students may enroll in only one course or one lecture/lab combination (a maximum of four credits).

What is the attendance policy for summer and winter courses?

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and labs. Instructors publish their attendance policies at the start of the term, and students are responsible for following them.

Can I audit a class during summer or winter?

Although not all courses are open to auditors, current Creighton students may request approval to audit a course from the dean.

  • Auditors do not complete exams or receive credit, but regular attendance is required. Excessive absences may result in a withdrawal (W).
  • Reduced tuition applies unless the course has a special flat rate.
  • Students requesting a change from credit to audit will be eligible for a tuition adjustment (if not otherwise applicable) if the change is made with the dean's approval within the period for late registration.
  • Auditors may not take the same course for credit during any succeeding semester.

How do I apply for graduation if I finish my degree in the summer?

Students completing degree requirements in a Summer Session must submit a degree application in June. Degrees are conferred in August, and diplomas become available in mid-September. Summer graduates may participate in the preceding Spring Commencement.

How do I access my online winter or summer course?

Online courses can be accessed through BlueLine using your NetID and BLUE password. Please confirm that you meet technology requirements before registering for online or hybrid courses.

How do I change my schedule once I’ve registered?

Schedule changes can be made in NEST through posted deadlines using your registration PIN. After deadlines pass, changes must be processed through the Registrar’s Office. Visiting students must contact the Registrar’s Office to register for classes and make any changes to their schedules.

Will my credits transfer to another institution?

Students transferring Creighton credits elsewhere must follow their home institution’s transfer credit policies. Always confirm transferability before registering.

How do I request a transcript?

Official Creighton transcripts may be ordered through the Registrar’s Office website. Creighton does not release transcripts from other institutions.
