Creighton Partner Programs Spend a semester or academic year abroad at a Creighton partner university.
Creighton partners with institutions around the world to offer high-quality study abroad opportunities for all Creighton students. We call these Creighton-In programs. With Creighton-In partner programs, students can generally continue to use their Creighton scholarships and financial aid while studying abroad.
ISEP Exchange + Direct ProgramsAccess additional global programs with flexible locations, formats and cost options.
Creighton partners with ISEP (International Student Exchange Program) to expand where students can study abroad, giving students access to dozens of additional universities worldwide beyond Creighton’s direct partners. There are two types of programs, ISEP Exchange and ISEP Direct:
- Students may participate in an ISEP Exchange program for a semester or academic year. With a wide range of locations and academic options, ISEP Exchange offers a unique immersive experience. Participants are fully integrated into their host university community, taking courses taught by local faculty alongside both local and international students. Students also have access to campus activities, social events and potential experiential learning opportunities such as language immersion and service learning. Students will be assessed Creighton tuition, fees, room and board—paid to Creighton—and ISEP fees paid directly to ISEP. Awards and scholarships are portable.
- Best for: Independent students seeking a fully immersive experience and who are open to multiple program location and expectations.
- Students may participate in an ISEP Direct program during a semester, academic year, summer or other break period. ISEP Direct provides a wide range of program locations, academic options and immersive experiences, but operates under a different financial and program structure than ISEP Exchange. Tuition, fees, room and board are paid directly to ISEP—not to Creighton. Awards and scholarships are not portable.
- Best for: Independent students seeking greater flexibility in program availability, program length and destination options.

For more than 50 years, Creighton University has had a presence in the Dominican Republic, offering programs centered on accessible healthcare and building community resilience. These initiatives are made possible through a close partnership with the Centro de Educación para la Salud Integral (CESI), our host organization. What began as a collaboration focused on immersive health service experiences has grown to include a range of initiatives, including Encuentro Domincano, our semester-long academic service-learning program.
Non-Creighton Programs Pursue programs outside our current networks.
If you are interested in a program outside of Creighton’s existing study abroad options, you must first check with your academic advisor and major department to determine whether they support the coursework offered through that program and at the host institution. If the department determines that the program provides a strong academic offering, they may communicate this recommendation to the Director of Study Abroad.
The deadline to work toward participation in a non-Creighton program option is one year prior to the start of the relevant study abroad term. For example, spring semester program proposals must be presented by January 15 of the prior year and fall semester proposals must be presented by August 15 of the prior year.
Processing non-Creighton program options requires significant time and includes verification of student support services, course accreditation and grade transferability. Tuition, room, board and fees for these programs are paid directly to the program provider—not to Creighton. Discounts and scholarships are not portable. Creighton offers a variety of summer and break study abroad opportunities, including Faculty-Led Programs Abroad (FLPAs), programs through our partner universities, ISEP and more.
- Faculty-Led Programs Abroad are a popular option for Creighton University students seeking short-term study abroad experiences. Courses are designed and run by Creighton University faculty members who travel with and lead students throughout the program. FLPAs may be offered in the summer, spring or fall breaks, and academic credit varies by program.
- Creighton partner universities and ISEP programs offer a variety of short-term study abroad opportunities for students. Most programs take place during the summer, with select options also available during Spring or Winter Break.
