The Scott Scholars in the Heider College of Business are a select group of future business leaders who are provided a merit scholarship and elite opportunities including intentional programmatic and academic advising, an exclusive Scott Scholars seminar course, invitation to attend Elite executive speaker series intended to foster innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit. Scholars are also gain purposeful connections with the Heider College of Business network of executives from hundreds of Omaha businesses and organizations to help them grow into future business leaders who seek to transform the future of business in Omaha and our community. 

Other key elements

  • Full tuition, mandatory University fees, on-campus room, and board fees covered through scholarship dollars for four years (eight consecutive semesters), sponsored by the Suzanne & Walter Scott Foundation and Creighton University
  • Guaranteed housing on-campus for four years (eight consecutive semesters)
  • Access to support for on-campus summer housing during years three (between Sophomore & Junior years) and four (between Junior & Senior years) if working or interning in Omaha
  • Four-year inclusive leadership development provided in conjunction with the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program
  • Internship cultivation, and coaching to prepare for employment and the ability to explore full-time career opportunities in the Omaha business community
  • Support for studying abroad and professional learning opportunities

Round 1:
You must be a first-time University student or immediate high school graduate with a minimum 3.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale and a minimum 28 ACT or 1300 SAT (Math + Critical Reading).

Submit application by Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:59 PM (in your local time zone).

Round 2:
Complete an interview with a Heider faculty, staff or student through your choice of online or in person. Applicants will also complete an ethics case study challenge. More details will be provided later. Thirty students will be selected and notified in the beginning of March when other scholarship notifications go out.

Students apply to the Scott Scholars and are considered for the Heider and Dean’s Fellows and Menard Family Business Research Fellows congruently. Applicants are welcome to inform their interviewer of their preference but the program selection committee will make the ultimate decision. Students must only complete one interview and one ethics challenge for all programs and scholarships in the Heider College of Business. The results from the interview and challenge will be used for all considerations.

Waitlist:
Students placed on the waitlist may seek admission into the Scott Scholars Program after successful completion of their first semester in the Heider College of Business. Admission requires demonstrated success and alignment with minimum requirements of current Heider Fellows and an interview with the Dean’s Office.
