Microscopy
The Histology Core provides equipment, software, and expertise for microscopy and morphometry. The primary instrument in the core is a Nikon Eclipse Ci-L scope for bright field and fluorescent applications. This microscope is paired with Lumenera's Infinity software for capture and analysis.
Nikon Eclipse Ci-L
- Upright microscope with 4X, 20X, 40X, and 60X objective lenses.
- Infinity 2 camera for RGB capture, and Infinity 3 for highly sensitive monochrome capture
- Filter cubes for FITC, DAPI, and Texas Red
The Ci-L can be reserved in 60 minute blocks. There is a sign up sheet in the core. When it is not reserved it may be used on a first come, first serve basis.
Rules for Microscope Users
- All users must be trained by the core technician before first use
- Do not adjust silver knobs without asking
- Do not adjust torque or clamp dials located under focus dials
- Use no oil whatsoever
- To not toggle fluorescent unit power while blue light is flashing
- Cover microscope before leaving.
