No. Entrepreneurship skills are valuable whether you plan to launch a company or innovate within an existing organization. The minor prepares students to become both entrepreneurs who build new organizations, and intrapreneurs who identify opportunities and drive innovation within established companies, nonprofits, healthcare systems and other organizations.
You’ll develop an entrepreneurial mindset and practical skills in opportunity recognition, innovation, customer discovery, business modeling, finance, marketing, strategy, leadership, communication and decision-making. You’ll also learn to test assumptions, work through ambiguity and use feedback and evidence to improve ideas.
The minor is designed to complement, not compete with, your primary field of study. Your major provides deep expertise while entrepreneurship gives you another way to put that knowledge into action, helping you recognize opportunities, solve problems and create value in your chosen field.
An entrepreneurship minor can complement careers in nearly any industry. Graduates may pursue roles as entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, business development specialists, innovation or product managers, consultants, marketing strategists, social entrepreneurs, family business leaders and specialists in areas such as healthcare innovation or technology commercialization.
