Parents of Committed Students

It’s time for a new chapter.

Your student has made the commitment to attend Creighton for the next step in their education. Are you excited for their future? Relieved to have the decision made? Sad to see them grow up so quickly? Stressed about all of the little things that need to be done? You aren’t alone.

Visit Options

Admitted students have a number of ways to visit, both virtually and in-person, as well as join alumni panels, student social hours, parent panels, and more. See all of the admitted student events and visit options here.

Fall Semester

Creighton University plans to continue with in-person courses for the fall 2022 semester. You can see the 2021-2022 undergraduate semester calendar.

Move-In and Welcome Week

Classes will begin Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Move-in dates and times will be assigned. Times and dates will be shared in mid-July, along with other important details about the process.

This will also mark the beginning of Welcome Week, a time to become oriented with campus and get to know your new classmates. Check out our list of what to pack for your first year on campus.

Next Steps

The student portal has lots of valuable information tailored to your student’s next steps. Encourage them to check it often for updates and resources. In the meantime, review a checklist of items to tackle.

Omaha

If your student is new to Omaha, you may have some questions about getting settled in a new city. Be sure to check out our map of places to shop for college supplies, pick up prescriptions, or grab a bite to eat. Omaha balances plenty to do with a cost of living that is friendly to a college budget.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week is the orientation process that all students go through. Your student will be in small student groups, according to their freshman advisor (or RSP advisor), who will lead them through a one-credit class called RSP (Ratio Studiorum Program).

Bluejay Praise

"People are so welcoming here. My first few weeks were amazing. With international orientations and Welcome Week activities, I felt I was not alone in my transition into college life. I found departments, such as the Success Center, that helped me adapt. I love how people are so nice everywhere. Whenever I go to a dining hall or a residence hall, I'm welcomed with friendly people giving me a smile. That is valuable!" — Oliver Alonzo Computer Science '18 / Santiago, Dominican Republic
