Dr. Colleen Spellman, is an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and Gerontology Fellowship Coordinator at Creighton University. She earned her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Creighton University and brings more than 20 years of clinical experience in rehabilitation, aging services, assistive technology, home health, and spinal cord injury care. In 2025, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Lifestyle Medicine, further strengthening her expertise in evidence-based approaches to health promotion and disease prevention. Dr. Spellman teaches across the occupational therapy curriculum, with expertise in physical rehabilitation across the lifespan, and is committed to preparing future practitioners to integrate clinical excellence, leadership, and evidence-based interventions into occupational therapy practice. Her advanced certifications, including Board Certification in Gerontology, LSVT BIG certification, Evergreen Certified Dementia Care Practitioner certification, and Lifestyle Medicine training, reflect her commitment to specialized, lifespan-focused practice. Through teaching, mentorship, interprofessional collaboration, research and community engagement, she works closely with clinical and community partners to expand educational opportunities and promote excellence in occupational therapy practice.
