Dr. Kathleen Sutton is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Creighton University’s Phoenix health sciences campus. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Bellarmine University, a Master of Public Health concentrating in Global Health Practice from the University of South Florida, and a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Kentucky. She also holds graduate certificates in Medical Anthropology and Developmental Disabilities. Her clinical background is in hospital-based care serving across the full care continuum but with a focus in critical care and acute rehab. She also has many years of clinical experience in global health settings locally and abroad. Her research is focused on community-based approaches to better understand and address health disparities for individuals and communities that have been historically marginalized. She is also involved in education research projects intended to improve student awareness and success in the areas of cultural humility and culturally responsive care.
