The federally funded Upward Bound Programs (UB) at Creighton help students develop the academic skills and personal growth necessary to successfully complete high school and gain admission to a four-year university.
UB helps Omaha metropolitan area high school students with academic preparation, cultural and social development and career exploration. Creighton offers both Classic Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math and Science Center programs.
Classic Upward Bound provides fundamental support to help participants succeed in high school and pursue higher education. The program offers the guidance and resources students need to prepare for college admission and build the skills necessary to graduate from college.
The Upward Bound Math and Science Center program supports students who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). UBMSC helps students develop passion for pursuing a college degree within STEM-related academic fields.

A student’s parent(s) must also provide a source of verification for family income by attaching either a copy of the most recent parent or family federal income tax form showing taxable income or a statement from Social Security Administration, or a statement from the Department of Social Services to the application.

No. These federally funded programs help students explore many college options. Participating does not require admission to Creighton.
Yes. The program helps students and family members understand financial aid and scholarship options, as well as college and financial aid application processes.
Yes. Both Upward Bound programs provide guidance and resources to help students prepare for college entrance exams.
Generally, no. Upward Bound is designed as a year-round college preparation program, not a stand-alone summer experience. Creighton expects active participation in both the academic-year and summer portions of the program.
Yes. Parents and guardians play an important role in helping students prepare for college. This may mean helping complete forms, reviewing program information or participating in college planning, financial aid or student success workshops.
