Grounded and Growing in the Desert: Phoenix

From desert sunsets and cactus trails to professional sports and vibrant urban neighborhoods, Phoenix offers a dynamic setting for mission-driven educators. The Phoenix Magis Community launched in 2025 as Magis Catholic Teacher Corps expanded into the Southwest, connecting with the strong network of Creighton friends in the Valley and responding to the growing needs of Catholic schools across the Diocese of Phoenix. Magis teachers serve in metro-area elementary and high schools while building intentional community in shared housing near the heart of the city.

Magis teachers serve at St. Matthew Catholic School, St. Francis Xavier and Brophy College Prep, partnering closely with school leaders to support diverse student populations, collaborate with the Jesuit education partners, and support dual language Catholic education. Outside the classroom, the Phoenix Magis community embraces life in the Valley of the Sun, building community with the Brophy Alumni Service Corps members and the SFX Jesuit Community, hiking Camelback Mountain, exploring Tempe Town Lake and downtown Phoenix, attending Suns and Diamondbacks games, enjoying local taco shops and coffee roasters, and gathering for sunsets that never get old.
