Doctor of Pharmacy Program in Phoenix

PharmD Program in Phoenix, Arizona

Creighton’s Established, Accredited Pharmacy School is Now in Arizona

Creighton has been educating passionate, capable pharmacists in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition since 1905, and now we’ve expanded into Phoenix. We welcomed our first Doctor of Pharmacy students to the Phoenix campus in fall 2021.

Creighton has had a presence in Phoenix since 2007, and when our regional partners asked us to expand and help meet the growing need for compassionate healthcare professionals in the area, we answered the call. We’ve partnered with Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical CenterValleywise Health, and District Medical Group, Inc. to form the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance, which gives Creighton students access to hands-on experiences in these prominent Phoenix healthcare facilities.

One of three pathway options, the Phoenix PharmD program is a hybrid of online and in-person education. Creighton was the first university in the United States to offer an online Doctor of Pharmacy program, and since the program launched in 2001, we’ve remained on the leading edge of distance education. Pharmacy students in Phoenix use our innovative distance learning technology to view lectures online at times that work best for them. Students come to the Phoenix campus for the hands-on portion of the curriculum throughout the academic year.

Is the Phoenix Doctor of Pharmacy Program Right for You?

Students choose Creighton because they want to make a difference in the lives of others. With a mission focused on developing leaders for a more just world, a Creighton education goes beyond the basics. Creighton University is a leader in interprofessional education and practice, which means you’ll work as a part of a healthcare team.

Our alliance with Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Valleywise Health, and District Medical Group, Inc. gives students direct access to patient care experiences. This partnership makes us the largest Catholic healthcare system in the west, but with small class sizes, you’ll have big opportunities without getting lost in the shuffle. You’ll find team-based learning woven into our curriculum and experiential learning opportunities as well.

Creighton is also uniquely committed to helping students succeed. The Office of Academic and Student Affairs (OASA) supports students by offering a comprehensive support network that includes an exploration of your financial situation and opportunities. OASA also provides tutoring, academic success seminars, academic advising and individual academic coaching sessions. Further, Creighton PharmD students have numerous opportunities to get involved, locally and globally with health promotion initiatives, student learning and opportunities for scholarly presentations, publications, and grant acquisitions.

Curriculum for the PharmD Program in Arizona

Students in Arizona will experience the same rigorous, comprehensive education as their Omaha-based and distance-learning counterparts. With a focus on experiential learning, the Creighton PharmD curriculum is hands-on rather than theory-based. Students will take part in community-focused activities and events in addition to skills labs, and they’ll dig into how medicines work in the body.
