Infectious Disease Clinical Specialties

The Division of Infectious Disease faculty specialize in treating adult infectious disease conditions, including HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. Also provided is pretravel consultation, including immunizations and advice for prevention of traveler’s diarrhea and malaria.

In general, faculty do not see patients with Morgellons disease, nor patients who report having a parasite for two months unless they submit a laboratory report confirming a parasitic infection from a laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologists.

For patients who have diagnoses of chronic Lyme disease, we generally take the approach based on the Infectious Diseases Society of America guidelines. We do not take the approach used by physicians who are known as Lyme literate physicians.
