Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

Our 3/3 Law program allows you to complete your undergraduate business degree (BSBA) and law degree (Juris Doctor) in six years, rather than the usual seven, to launch your legal career sooner than the traditional pre-law track.

A head for business, a heart for health care. You’ll be ready for professional school backed by business knowledge. In only four years, earn your BSBA with a business major. At the same time, you’ll complete the courses required for professional school in any of the following health care specialties as part of our Pre-Health business program:

Portfolio Practicum

Invest more than $8 million of Creighton University endowment funds as a student manager for the Creighton University Student Portfolio (CUSP Fund) in our Portfolio Practicum class. Our state-of-the-art Heider Securities and Investment Center has just been completely remodeled and features 11 real Bloomberg trading terminals.

Be a part of the team operating all facets of the only student-run Apple Authorized Campus Store in the country. As a part of the iJay practicum you’ll gain an understanding of complex business concepts including inventory management, finances, marketing, eCommerce, and more.

Creighton Business Symposium

As a member of the Creighton Business Symposium planning team, you’ll have the opportunity to coordinate the largest student-run business conference in the nation. The Creighton Business Symposium typically brings over 1,000 business students and professionals to the CHI Health Center in downtown Omaha for this one-day conference.
No on-site events? No problem! In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the fall 2020 Creighton Business Symposium planning team successfully transformed the Symposium into a series of episodes on a nationally-known podcast, Entrepreneurs on Fire.

Travel Courses

Each year, over 200 Heider College of Business students travel domestically and abroad to meet real business professionals in cities such as Hong Kong, San Francisco, and New York City for one or two week long travel courses. 

*Travel courses are currently restricted and will resume once University protocols allow.

Competitions

  • 3 Day Startup — In this 72-hour pitch competition, you can exercise your entrepreneurial skills in an extreme hands-on environment—culminating in a final pitch to an esteemed panel of mentors and real investors.
  • Argy Bargy — In this contest you have the opportunity to combine coding with creativity as you compete against teams from BIA, marketing, finance and accounting to develop the best mobile apps. 
  • Murphy Cup — Address real marketing challenges and present resolutions to a panel of industry experts from such companies as Nike, Union Pacific Railroad and UnitedHealthcare. This annual, collaborative marketing competition is hosted in partnership with Drake University.

Developed by the John P. Fahey Career Center, the Career Portfolio program is designed specifically for students in the Heider College of Business. Through completion of this four-year program, you’ll maximize your opportunities by assessing your career goals, enhancing your professional skills and seamlessly transitioning you into the workplace.

  1. Exploration: Start exploring your interests. Tour companies, receive career coaching at our career center, attend job fairs and learn about exciting careers in business.

As part of the Heider Mindset Curriculum, the Heider Mindset Achievement Portfolio (H-MAP) helps us track the achievement of abstract concepts in a tangible way. Using the H-MAP mobile or desktop application, you will have a dashboard to measure progress and build a repository of digital artifacts that can be shared with potential employers so they can see how you have applied the 6 mindsets in your academic work or extracurricular experiences.

Elizabeth Rowen, Class of 2021

Wisconsin native and finance and accounting double major Elizabeth Rowen landed her first internship with Deloitte the summer after her freshman year. After being named a Forbes Under 30 Scholar, Rowen gained even more experience through internships at Goldman Sachs and TD Ameritrade, and has already secured full time employment as an analyst for the Cyber Risk team at Deloitte in Chicago upon graduating in Spring 2021.

Christian Carrillo, Class of 2021

A native of San Diego, California, marketing and management double major Christian Carillo has gained a breadth of experience through internships at Union Pacific and Valmont Industries in Omaha, Nebraska, and earned a spot as a virtual brand immersion intern for Whirlpool’s KitchenAid brand this past summer. Carillo is also a dedicated volunteer to organizations such as Completely Kids, Foodbank of the Heartland and Boys and Girls Club.

Fernanda Reutzel

Fernanda Reutzel, BSBA’19

Reutzel is now a Marketing Campaign Configuration Specialist for Physicians Mutual in Omaha. But she did not find success by accident. Reutzel took full advantage of her choice to stay in her hometown to attend Creighton with internships for global architecture firm HDR, brand management for nation-wide security provider Signal 88. In addition to her role at Physicians Mutual, Reutzel is a board member for the American Marketing Association’s Omaha chapter and is actively involved with the Greater Omaha Chamber Young Professionals as well as the Junior League of Omaha.

Dayton Rand, BSBA’19

After coming to Creighton to complete his business degree, Dayton Rand found his way back to Iowa via our pre-health sciences track. Rand majored in finance while also completing his pre-med courses and studying for the MCAT, eventually earning a spot in the Carver College of Medicine at The University of Iowa.

Natalie Miller, BSBA’18

A marketing and BIA double major, Natalie Miller found where her passion intersected analytics during an internship for cosmetics giant Estee Lauder. After interning in New York City the summer before her senior year, Natalie earned a full time offer with the company and is currently on her second rotation as a global consumer insights assistant manager for their MAC line of cosmetics.

Bryce Only

Bryce Only, BSBA’17

Bryce Only studied finance at the Heider College of Business while playing for the Bluejay baseball team. After a graduate assistantship at Jacksonville University in Florida, Only accepted a position as an inside sales representative for the Los Angeles Dodgers. “If you are passionate about something, you can find it and the support at Creighton,” Only says. “Make as many friends as possible, join as many clubs as possible, attend as many events as possible. Never stop learning and growing. I am a product of that, and it is something I will continue to do.”
